Making your own GIMP brush (for GIMP 2.0)

Part One: Standard brush
Open the GIMP.
Go to file > new
You can make your image any size you want, but you should give yourself as much room as possible.
In the "image type" area, click on Grayscale
In the "fill type" area, click on white.
Now you can draw your image. Use your imagination!

After you finish drawing your image, go to file > save as
The brushes folder should be found in C: > Program Files > GIMP-2.0 > share > gimp >2.0 > brushes. It's best to save it in this folder.
Save the file with a .gbr extension.
A dialogue box will pop up. Where it says "description" change the description from "GIMP brush" to whatever you want. Unless you want it to be "GIMP brush."

Part Two: RGB brush
With this type of brush, the foreground color cannot be changed. This is a good brush if you wanted a brush of say a fruit or something.
Open the GIMP
In the image type area, choose RGB
In the fill type area, choose transparent
Again, give yourself enough room to work with.
And now you draw your image.

This time around you save it with a .gih extension.
All you have to touch is the description. Change that to whatever you desire.

Part three: RGB Pipe brush (aka Animated)
With this kind of brush, the image changes as you use it. The foreground color cannot be changed with this one as well.
When you open a new image do the same thing you do for the RGB brush
This time around you have more than one layer.
To create a new layer go to layer > new layer. You can create as many layers as you like. Make sure all your layers are transparent.
Now go to Dialogues > layers to view all the layers.
Now draw an image for each layer. You should start with the oldest layer first, and then progress to the newer layers.

After that, you save the image with the .gih extension. Change the description to anything you want. Below the dimension box, you'll see a box that says ranks. Increase that number to however many layers your image is. The selection bit right below it will show how the images will appear. Incremental means they will appear in a certain order. Random means they'll be displayed at random (duh :P).

Part Four: Alpha Pipe (also an animated brush)
This kind of brush is like the previous brush, except the foreground color can be changed.
Open the GIMP
The image type must be grayscale, and the fill type should be white.
Like the previous brush, this one has more than one layer. This time none of the layers can be transparent.
Then you draw an image for each layer, or paste, or whatever you wish to do. Again, it's best to start with the oldest layer first, or the one created first.
You save the image with a .gih extension
Make sure that the ranks number matches the number of layers your image has.

To see your new brushes shown in the brushes box, hit refresh.
