when ever a site gets a 404 error i always get redircted to a search thing. i've tried scanning my comp with ad-aware but it still doesn't work. how can i get rid of this?

ive had a few of them...just search google...example the last one i had went to global-finder.com so i search google for 'global finder virus' and found removal instructions :)

I think that the Verisign thing is standard now, so everytime a domain name is typed wrong it will go to that.
