The image on the right, where the links are, seems to be transparent to the background. Is there a code to do that? Cause I can't get a expensive image editor to that...

I don't know of any code. It looks like it was either a photo taken with a black and white camera, or is an image that used greyscale. For the latter, you can just use paint shop pro, which you can download for free at Jasc (http://www.jasc.com).
