uhoh, when i click on that, instead of straight line text, it has that little half curve thingy and when i press enter, instead of going to another line, it changes to another angle, so now text looks look this kinda:

l q
a d
h c

in a box instead of something i want:

blah
blah
blah

It might be becasue you are clicking an a vector object when adding text. try clicking on a part where there is no objects and then place the text whre you want it.
