Thanks Nerissa epolady 01-10-2003, 08:32 PM I looked up both listserve and listserv.. are you wanting a mailing list type thing? RussellzWatermelon 01-10-2003, 08:37 PM Yes, exactly, like an email listserve that isn't yahoo or any of those, does anyone know how to make one? epolady 01-10-2003, 08:44 PM Well, I cannot tell you how to make one, because I do not know. But I can give you these two links for running a mailing list on your own server. For PHP based ones, click here (http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Mailing_List_Managers/). For CGI/Perl based ones, click here (http://www.hotscripts.com/Perl/Scripts_and_Programs/Mailing_List_Managers/). I'm terribly sorry if this isn't what you're looking for. RussellzWatermelon 01-10-2003, 08:47 PM Thanks, I'll check them out!! RussellzWatermelon 01-10-2003, 09:03 PM what's the difference between php and cgi/perl? epolady 01-10-2003, 09:17 PM It's two seperate languages. The reason why I gave you those links is because I didn't know what your host supports. Most free servers don't support PHP. And a few of those support CGI. There are some remotely hosted mailing lists if you want to try those. I think notifylist.com is a free one, not sure, though. RussellzWatermelon 01-10-2003, 10:03 PM Ohh, ok, thanks! I use tripod, I think it supports cgi but is perl the same thing as cgi? epolady 01-10-2003, 10:13 PM I'm not sure if tripod.com supports CGI, i know Tripod.lycos.co.uk (http://www.tripod.lycos.co.uk/) supports php/mysql. I won't tell you whether or not perl & cgi are the same, i think it has to deal with the host's operating system. I'm never sure about such things. darklitch 01-08-2005, 03:23 AM I'm not sure if tripod.com supports CGI, i know Tripod.lycos.co.uk (http://www.tripod.lycos.co.uk/) supports php/mysql.
