I wanted to make a English/RPG Lingo dictionary for my site, where you can type in either the English word and get RPG words that mean the same thing, or type a RPG word you don't understand and get the English meaning. Is that possible??

it will be possible, but EXTREMELY HARD

try and search www.google.com and if you find a website, email them asking to use their product on your website.

they might be able to help you, or not

sorry

good luck

Chris

Ok. thanx. ill try. but do you think it would work if I just wrote it all out, then made a search engine on the page?? Could that work?

If you got a search engine on your site, then people could look up RPG words and such...but it wouldn't be a dictionary. You could try making your own dictionary, and have all the search results be pages from YOUR page...I kind of did that once ;).

First, get a search engine. www.freefind.com offers a free search engine you can add to your page.

Add the search engine to your site (the place you get the search engine from will probably have directions).

Then, create pages for your words. For example, say you are making the page for "eyes" and what the different RPG Lingo names for "eyes" are. On your "dictionary" page, do something like:

Eyes

AKA : orbs

Doing this ^ will make the search engine be able to find both "eyes" and "orbs" when searching.

Many search engines require the page you are searching for to actually be linked from your index page in some way (like INDEX PAGE [linked to] Dictionary [linked to] Eyes). If this is the case with the search engine you use, you could just make a dictionary page where people would have to manually search for the word they need. That way your search engine picks up on the page and if people don't want to use the search engine, they can manually search as well =).

Hope I helped and good luck!

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you want, but The JavaScript Source has a simple English-to-Spanish translator (http://javascript.internet.com/messages/english-to-spanish.html). It could be changed to convert English terms to RPG stuff and vice-versa probably. HTH! :)
