JavaScript and HTML go hand in hand- you need HTML to display the JavaScript, and without HTML you wouldn't have much of a page.

also, what might make finding information easier is making sure you're using the correct names- what you want is JavaScript, not Java. They are two different languages and they have different uses. :)
