Hey everyone =)

I have a little bit of a problem. My mother, who works on ebay wants to make a site of her own to discuss her business and asked me to help her since I know more HTML then she does. But the thing is, I still don't know very much. I have a very basic site that I'm sure would not be an example of what she would want. I know she would like something professional for her sort of business, but she still wants it friendly and colourful! Something that people will want to look at and explore. I was looking at different sites and realized it was right in front of me. Lissa Explains! Its a great site! Very attracting. First time I came across it I liked just the basic look, which made me want to explore farther. But I'm not the type to right click, copy n paste and take someone elses and claim it as my own. What I was hoping, is that maybe you guys, could give me some ideas. I have no idea how lissa makes her site and would like to learn how to make something thats just attracting as this. Only the best for my mom =D

Thanx a lot!
Becky

it sounds to me like you wanna get into html, but to make it simple, go search google for trellix web and find a page you can download it at, download it and the update, make an account with tripod, and use trellix, it works real good. and you can make some really nice sites, or you could look at the html on lissa's site and find out the basics.

I also do it kinda easy, i have a page at freewebs and make pages in microsoft frontpage, already have pictures on server and pages, then look at the html and copy it and past it on freewebs, but as i get more into my site, i do more and more of the work in html and not as much in front page

Thanx for your post/help 90cougarls. I'll see what I can do with that. =)

I also looked at your site 90cougarls, very nice. Yes simple. But if you look at mine. You'll see what I meant by simple =P

Its not that I don't know anything about HTML. Its just that I think my mom might think I know more then I really do. I know the basic stuff. I know CSS and a bit of javascript. But I'm looking for something more complex and I don't know enough to make something perhaps like Lissa Explains. This would be an ideal site for me try and learn from. I need some kind of ideas (with the codes =P) that could make my moms site professional/friendly. And at the moment I'm working on geocities just to get her site started. For example the way Lissa has displayed her navigation. I think its a great idea, but I have no idea how to do something like that.

all it really takes is some imagination and practice.

the first thing to do is have a good look around the internet and see what kind of stuff people can do on webpages these days.

next, try to think of what you want on your own page or what you want it to look like. draw it out on a piece of paper.

next, try going through coding tutorials and learn the basics. it isn't hard and the experience is self rewarding.

after that, there are tons of resources to add special things to your site for whatever.

as you go along, pop in the forum areas to ask specific questions. there are many helpful people.
