1. First off start make a new document around 500x500 depending on what you wish to use.

2. Now use the Airbrush tool (only Photoshop 5) to make a circle blob in the middle of your picture and make the colour light grey.

3. Now go to Filter > Stylize > Extrude and put Pyramids size 15 depth 255 tick random and tick Mask incomplete blocks.

4. Lastly you need to add colour so go to Image > Adjust > Hue/Saturation or Ctrl+U and tick Colourize and make a colour.

a kool eefect to add to it....
instead of coloring the ball make a new layer and paintbrush within the spike ball and the outside(the new layer) like i used orange red and yellow and jsut make marks and then instead of overlay use color dogde! -- it will have a kool look to it .
