every time i do it with paint shop pro 7 it still comes as a white background when i put it on my site...

did you use the magic wand in psp7? that always gets mine transparent.

You have to set the pallet transparency. Take your image into psp seven, make everything you want trasparent a different color from everything else in your image, then click on the colors menu, then "Set Pallet Transparency." Decrease color value to optimized median cut, then click the color you want to be transparent on your image. Then you can go to colors>>view pallet transparency to make sure it works, and dont forget to save it as a gif or a png - jpg wont support transparency.
