Hi all,
I am returning to this forum- and verily to web design -after a long period of doing other stuff.

I have forgotten some things, and standards have changed, and more importantly I don't really have anything to do. I don't have any websites to design, and I don't really have any ideas. At the moment I am just playing around with HTML5 and CSS3 and thinking about getting started with php or JavaScript or something. Any suggestions? Making content has never been my strong suit, and I am certainly not skilled enough yet to design websites for other people.

What do you all like to make web pages about?

Design and content are two very different things. Start a blog (I suggest Blogger (http://www.blogger.com/) if you don't have your own server) to get into the content world, and just fool around with designs and layouts until you're comfortable with it.

I've been working with websites for a long time and even today I don't have a steady footing with content. I think I've found my place with a couple open-source projects contributing code and support, though, so you might try that too.
