I would like to become a personal webhost. Can anyone checklist the things I would need to do this. I thought I would need a lot of space, bandwidth and unlimited subdomains (Or maybe just a few). If anybody is a host I need some inspiration can I have a look at your portal. How do I go about allocating ftp accounts, can I limit the space?? I would also like to know about any good hosts which aren't too expensive for me to sign up with. I plan to pay for a years hosting plus a free domain name. I would also like the domain name to be specially linked and not directed if you know what I mean. Its called DNS and I want it so that when I click the about page I get taken to mysite.com/about.html and not the mysite.com remaining in the address bar all the time like this site (http://www.tribeworld.com). Thanks for any replies of this genre...

you need to buy a domain name AND space.

if you use pinchpenny.org for the space, it wont be too expensive, actually.

lemme know if you have the money to do that and i can point ya in the correct direction:)

my AIM is linkinparkjenjen
or my email is jen@hatredworld.net

Do you want to host full domains or just subdomains? If you want your hostees to have their own domain then I've heard thatHostradius (http://www.hostradius.com) if quite good. I don't think your site would have to have the url cloaked either.

Hope that's some help.

Ive used hostradius before. I was hacked TWICE and the mailform script wouldnt work and they WONT fix it.
From my experience with them it's terrible, and the cpanel is, ugly.
