i downloaded xp i used to have windows 98. i finally got connected to the net again took me all day to do it. i hate xp it said it would preserve my files when i installed it but it wiped out everything!!! all my art work i ever made is gone!!! :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

Probably not, no.

No, the files will not restore by converting back to 98. The reason being is exactly what iGeek said, despite it being a non-helpful reply. XP was crappy with that when it first came out and still is. The supposed ability to transfer files from older systems does not work very well at all. Some may disagree, but it is the truth. I know it can be difficult, but your best bet would have been to use a flash drive to backup everything. For now you're out of luck, and have no options for recovery.

:lol: Sorry, I was momentarily confused. Normally people don't download XP, let alone any edition of Windows.

You can also, if you have a high-speed internet connection, upload everything to an on-line backup place. I'm not sure about the price.
