hokay, when i used psp to outline words i would open a new form, paint bucket it black. Then Id put the word i'd want on it, click selections-from vector object, then selections-expand (1 pixel) Then I would copy merged and paste it onto my actual graphic (an image map in this case). When I would do this, it would put gray pixels in it too, giving it kind of a glow effect. Today when I was working on it, the psp suddenly closed. When I tried to do the outlining words again, it did it without the gray, which I want. Look here, it'll visualize it: http://www.geocities.com/rajivmirage/imagemap.html

Do you see how the bottom one looks all scratched up? I have NO idea what's wrong, I cant find anything to fix it with, either. Any ideas?

i think you forgot the antalias to put on, since antalias makes the edges smooth looking with the freehand and selection tool (watch out, it doesn't do that with every tool)

to to check antalias, and make "feathering" uncheck (if that is checked) then try again.

also it's a good idea to save your work around the 20 minutes or so in .psp format. This format allows you to keep all the layers you have and to just continue on whenever you open it again. It doesn't merge anything at all. But after you're done save it as .gif or .jpg or .png
