when i turned on my pc this morning I found it it was infected with a new high risk infection called trojan.beacomm. I you have Norton Security like me it will prompt you to run live update but it won't fix it. I am not sure how I got it but I think it downloads to your system as a attachmen. I even called Symantec and they wanted to charge me $ 60.00 to help me reomve it. I did some research and although it took me more than an hour I found out you can download the file to protect your pc. Go to the link bellow, download i t and install it, the threat will go away.
Hope you guys, find this useful

Pfft.
Let me tell you. Norton, McAffe, and all the others out there are slime. Rubbish. Useless. You know why? Because the free software many programmers and even companies write better software - Avast (http://www.avast.com/) is a good example.
You know what Symantec and Co. are doing? They pay computer manufacturers, or give them the free software to put on the shiny new Dell's and Compaq's that come out of their factory. That way, you get a nice, shiny new computer with this stuff... and you don't know where to get some more, better software. You pay the license fee after the 18 month trial, or something. They make money out of protecting you from the low key viruses, leaving you unprotected when it matters most. I advise you immediately to discontinue the software currently protecting (well, if you call it protecting) your computer and download Avast (http://www.avast.com/)! Use Windows Firewall (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/security/winfirewall.mspx). Did you hear me right? Yep, Windows Firewall does the needed job. It offers a small line of protection which is all that's needed for a typical home user.
$60 to remove a virus?? You shouldn't even need to have ever called that number. I'm sorry to hear that you have been hit by a virus by some 'InsAn3 Skryp7 K1ddy'. Thanks for the warning, anyway.
Wow, that was a big post. I doubt I'll write more than that in a while!
Hope this helps,

I always look up the risks before downloading updates. However virus warnings are useful.
BTW that is Trojan.Peacomm.

I've been seeing that one lately too. I have norton and it picked it up. There should be a way to get it off without paying $60 I'm sure. When I find out more I'll let you know.
Hi everyone,
Well, well, well, time and time again we hear the same old horror stories about viruses both new and old. Yet people keep on BUYING anti-virus software such as McAfee, Norton and the likes. These companies employ a large number of people/teams that work constantly ( so they have us think - hence the automatic update, Hmmmmmm ), on tackling new threats etc yet there is one simple rule that governs them all;
ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE VIRUSES IT KNOWS!
To truly defend/protect yourself against viruses/trojans/worms etc you need to gain an insight into their mechanisms or at least be armed with appropriate utilities ( at OS level ), that will remove them. These utilities and help are FREELY available and have FULL FREE SUPPORT FORUMS. To gain an insight into the world of security firstly visit;
http://www.astalavista.com
where you will find tons of info.
To manually remove malware etc go to;
http://forum.malwareremoval.com/
and;
http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22
The last two deal with hands on removal but always follow their instructions EXACTLY. The voulteers are extremely experienced guys and do it for no monetary gain whatsoever. Those forums are also tutorials.
That latter one is a part of Spybot. They used to be scorned at a few years ago but even the 'giants' now ask them for help/advice - mostly discreetly.
Apart from Spybot that I have installed ( and that's so I can quickly run a check on a night ), the only other thing I have is the utilities that I got from these sites. I also learned how to remove viruses myself. That was over 2 years ago and I have'nt had a problem yet. Of course I have been infected but I was able to remove them myself.
So, there now is a solution to getting rid of viruses for FREE by doing it yourself or with a little help from some dedicated friends.
By the way, my ISP here in England.UK is British Telecom and they offer the full McAfee package for free. Er, no thank you.
Well I hope this info is useful.
Regrads,
Ges.
PS Did you know that Astalavista are paid by finance companies to attack their mainframe systems. After which they usually get 2 payments. The first payment is for the attack itself and the 2nd one is to shut up if they are successfull!!

I don't know if this will help but there are pretty good tools from Comodo Security Inc. though the Antivirus is still a beta
