HI guys,

i never realised my text on this monitor is blurry untill i went on the laptop from my mom for a whole day. Then i came back on the PC and i got a headache from it to watch at it. I looked everywhere, in my monitor settings etc but can't find anything that will do what i want

on the laptop everything is so clear and good to view. The S or any other letter is one line, and not tons of greycolours that will vorm the "S" (if this is a good explination on how i see it). the difference is not big, but it annoys me.

is it something with my settings? i neverhad this, untill i switched windows again to special edition from 98. I first had 98 main edition, but then i had to format my computer because i wasn't able to come into windows anymore and the computerboy (lol) installed 98 second edition or special edition on it.

Thanks. I'm using 32 bit colours and 800x600 resolution. Also the blurr seems to be more in the corners of the screen. In the middle it seems (not sure could be my eyes too) more clearer.

Love,
Mirna

How old is the monitor?
I doubt it has anything to do with the Central Processing Unit (The CPU for short) but the monitor. I had a Sony Monitor and got it like 5 years ago, it began to fade and get blurry this year. So it looks like the monitor needs replacing. In the mean-while mess around with the monitor settings like to make it brighter or darker, compress or expand, etc.... That may also be an issue.

Some symbols to know the contrast and other settings for the monitor:

A circle that is half dark and half light is- contrast

A circle that has lines and looks somewhat like the sun- darker/ or brighter setting

A big square and a little square- compress and expand the monitor view

That's the only way I can describe the monitor setting things there are also others too. Remember they're ALL on the MONITOR itself.

if your monitor is newer, the settings cherchez mentioned might not be on the monitor itself- you may need to press a menu button first to access all those settings. that's the way mine is, and it's almost 4 years old, and most monitors are the same way now, I believe.

also, try going to Control Panel > Display > Effects and checking/unchecking "Smooth edges of screen fonts". I'm honestly not sure what it does, because I don't notice any difference (it was unchecked by default for me), but it might change something for you.

the monitor is old haha, believe me. We bought it second handed or whatever you call it. Someone else couldn't work with this pc (not much patience) so we bought it from them.

the half black half white (not really) circle and the sunny signs have been both at the highest. I played with them, and they only make the screen darker

that's the only settings i have on my monitor, the others are for positioning the screen. ugh i think i willl have to get a new one or something. it doesn't bother me that much, but after a while you are starting to irritate on it becuae your eyes are going to hurt. I make my eyes smaller and smaller to see if it where my eyes, but it's just the monitor. but you still do that with your eyes, it's an automatic thing. Like when you can't read something along the road you also squesh (sp?) your eyes together to read it better.

thanks both for the reply. The thing you said Dude didn't made a difference here either :)
