View Full Version : What's *your* thing?
Cherchezlafemme 12-04-2006, 01:03 PM Everybody has something they're good at! So what's your specialty? ^.^ It could be a hobby or something you do for school/work/etc... This is just a "get-to-know-you" thread, since I'm out and about most of the time, I 'd like to get to know the newer faces of LEIA! :D
[Note: make sure it's a rated G hobby, I just had the notion to mention that for some reason D:]
In my case, I really enjoy graphics through the digital medium. I tried everything web-wise and nothing really stuck more. It's something peaceful, and not as fussy as real painting -_-" Sketching is also very fun for me, it releases all my creativity. This Christmas I'm going to buy a graphics tablet, something that I'm very very very excited about. :)
Your turn! :buckt:
Well, I'm good at Isometric Drawing. I can draw simple structures in paint without any help, or without Photoshop (although I do have Photoshop :)).
J to the izzosh 12-04-2006, 02:07 PM I can touch my nose with my tongue.
Tablets r0xx0rz, Marie. Especially Wacom tablets. They also have a student discount program that you should take advantage of, if you aren't already, to save a few clams.

I haven't seen it on the Wacom site, but if their student discounts are better than the ones I get from my source I'll go with that. Thanks for the tidbit ^.^
J to the izzosh 12-04-2006, 03:14 PM Actually, now that you mention it, I'm not sure if they do have an official student discount program. My buddy got his tablet from Studica, though, and saved ~US$100.
Cherchezlafemme 12-04-2006, 03:22 PM :o Studica actually beats the store I buy my hardware from, amazing! ^.^ It's 10-25 dollars difference, but still it's better. :D
bourdelson 12-04-2006, 04:43 PM I'm really into writing [of almost any form.. poetry, fiction, nonfiction], art of almost any form [traditional and digital], web design and photography [which can be grouped under art, but I think it gets its own category]. Er.. I think that's it. Unless shopping counts.. I apparently am very good at blowing all of my money in a few short hours.
Oh, yeah, I forgot to add webdesign as one of my abilities. :)
onigiri 12-04-2006, 07:29 PM My current hobbies include art (sketching and digital art), writing fiction (original and fan), playing the piano, and MapleStory (although I can't say I'm very good at any of them. :P)
Douglas 12-04-2006, 09:37 PM Programming, Badminton, and catching things in my mouth :P That about covers it :)
Idiotic Creation 12-04-2006, 10:17 PM Programming, web design, basketball, and...swimming...yep. I can definitely swim.
Things I'm bad at include: Spelling, English, and almost anything that uses letters and words. I also have trouble with algebra, because I'm a little dyslexic :(
Owlie42 12-04-2006, 10:26 PM Fencing, knitting, procrastinating, webdesigning (sort of), drawing, writing. The only thing I'm really really good at on that list is the procrastinating.
Arwen 12-05-2006, 09:41 PM I'm good at ballet and modern dance. :dancer: I'm also pretty good at making graphics (I think  ) and imitating Gollum. :hehe:
angelic.deception 12-05-2006, 10:18 PM I think this thread was a fantastic idea. =) I'm so nosy, hehe. I like reading about other people.
Things I'm good at: writing, reading, math, dealing with small ferocious children, web design (Pfft. I'd like to think so anyway.), horse riding, wasting time and forgetting everything.
Things I'm bad at: drawing, saving money, finishing the stuff I start.
Things I enjoy (but aren't necessarily good at): singing, dancing, making people laugh, painting, photography, the Ratchet and Clank PS2 game, and messing about in Photoshop.
Oh, and I'm addicted to PostSecret.
That is all. =D

Oh, I'm really good at that too. Although I have a friend who probably has us both beat. He won't even start on homework and projects until about 12:00 am of the day its due. I have no idea how he does it.

I've finished papers about 15 minutes before I had to hand it in. And one of them was one that I hadn't read the book. ><
Oh, and how about reading 5 chapters of economics (Zzzzz...) the night before a test?
amyaurora 12-06-2006, 08:31 PM Sorry to say I can't safely add to this list.
Magln Meow 12-07-2006, 04:47 AM Currently...? Sleeping.

I CAN DO THAT TO!!! :stickout: lol
I'm an awesome baker. Not to be conceited, but everyone loves me during Christmas time. They say I make the perfect cookies. I've also always been a good writer. I can remember all the lyrics to a song after hearing it once or twice, and I can read over 100 pages of a chapter book in an hour and remember every detail. They're random, and they're strange, but they're my "things". :D
umsldragon 12-07-2006, 11:05 PM Nice...
I like to play intruments/music and write music, which I've been doing a lot of lately... Nothing really big, but some nice acoustic sounding stuff. I also like to read and write, (i'm so literate!), and I like to RP from time to time...
And getting back to mucis, I just finished writing a little exerpt of Jingle Bells that has been jazzed up with many quirks of #'s and b's in it. Along with some funny, swing rhythms... anyway, 'nough 'bout me :p
