Hi All! if any lol

I'm using the FTP Program Lissa recommended on her site, which is WS_FTP. I'm aware that Lissa has a tutorial on her site for WS_FTP, but I'm afraid that my concern is beyond the tutorial:blush: In order to follow her tutorial, you have to connect...and I can't get my server to even connect. I'm obviously dong something wrong and I need major help =/

I'm using Tripod's Free web package
My screen name is: eb0nie
My homepage url is: eb0nie.tripod.com

On the WS_FTP connect dialogue box, it's asking for the following things:

IP Adress
Server port
user id:
password

This is how I filled it out.

IP Address: tripod.com
Server port: 21
user id: eb0nie
password: ********


Am I doing something wrong? Perhaps the ip adress is incorrect or my server port number? I don't even know what a server port is. I have to get pass this part in oder to follow Lissa's tutorial :shakes head: bare with me people:crying:

Try reading tripod's guide to ftp (http://www.tripod.lycos.com/guides/ftp.html)...

I think the only thing wrong is the Host address which you are typing. It should be ftp.tripod.com not tripod.com. Try changing the host address and it should be able to work.

Epolady, tripod is "down" on my computer right now. I can't log into my account or anything. I was trying to acess the FTP page..but it keeps saying "page not found". Whenever it's back up again, I'll read it. And thanks fsdotnet:)

If tripods down then even if all the info you entered was right it wouldnt let you log in...usually if the main sites down FTP would be too, so that might have been the problem!

if you have everything in there right, its probably the FTP program, my friend tessa had problems with coffeecup working, so someone told her to use CuteFTP, try it and see if that works
