Very vague poll in my opinion, unfortunately. I don't live in my voting precinct since I am at school, so I can't vote unfortunately. I would have gotten my abentee ballot, but you have to have voted in some sort of election before in person, but since I just turned 18 in January, I haven't done such thing yet. Michigan is obviously voting for governor, plus five proposals. One of those proposals is seeking to ban affirmative action within the state. It has been a big controversy, and I do have my views.

I do not feel that people need to know my political views, but like most college students, I am a left-wing liberal. You could consider me a Democrat, however, I would never, and I do not believe that anyone should ever vote straight ticket on any ballot. However, I am personally hoping that DeVos wins here in Michigan. Jennifer Granholm had her chance. She came into office here in Michigan during rough economic times, but only made it worse. Some of her other views are also very disgruntling and I do not agree with almost anything she has done for this state. We are in bad shape, she had her chance, now it is time for a new leader to step up and try and fix the state, DeVos.

Ohio's voting laws are a little bit different, so I could have voted in this election by absentee ballot, but I unfortunately lost my voter registration forms under a pile of math homework...

But I'd have voted Democrat, perhaps with the exception of most of the stuff for my hometown--there aren't Democratic candidates for a lot of the county positions because there is no party organization.

All the Governor candidates for my state are all a piece of crap.

I'm not old enough to vote (though I wish I was!), but most of the canidates I support are republicans. I know the son of one of the u.s. senate canidates, so that is cool! :)

Wow, Indiana...

8pm is when the first polls close here in Eastern Time, so big reporting will be coming around 9, and throughout the night. Not much can even be said for sure for Indiana, since they just closed 18 minutes ago.

Wow! Today I didn't have any homework, so I have been following the election and such online. Well, clickondetroit.com is the website for Detroit NBC-WDIV... They did a live webcast today, they just mentioned that they are in their ninth hour today. One of the anchors has been doing it most of the day, having interviews with some people from different organizations, pollsters, and some of the clerks going into office. They also had a quick interview with current Governor Granholm, as well as NBC's own Brian Williams out of Detroit. I decided to e-mail them thanking for what they have done. This is the first time they have attempted a live webcast, as it is seperate from their live daily broadcast on TV. They said they have gotten tens of thousands of hits on their website today, and recieved e-mails upon e-mails, and well, they just read mine off live! I said I was from the Detroit area and going to school on the other side of the state, and couldn't do my absentee ballot since this would have been my first election and you can't do an absentee if it is your first. Anyhoo, so they read it, then their computer person in charge of the e-mails and whatnot came on and was saying about recieving e-mails from across the country from peoplle out of town or in my instance, a student from Grand Valley who appreciated it (That's me!) Just surprised I guess, they get so many e-mails and decide to read mine off!

Yay, Jon! That's really cool! :D

I felt bad for not having registered before I left Michigan, but since I found out that I can't do an absentee ballot for my first vote, I haven't felt as bad. I did feel bad when I found out that I could have registered to vote in Massachusetts, though. :/

Oh, well.. what're you gonna do? *shrugs*

That's great, Zeppy! :cheer2: I had school from 10am-5pm yesterday, and I finally got home at 6pm and realized that I forgot to vote :( The major seat that I wanted to vote for was governor, and Charlie Crist ended up winning anyway, so I don't feel as bad for not voting  I would have mostly voted Republican, by the way!

i voted republican...i was informed voter though.

Voting for just a democrat or republican is very dangerous. We should be informed of who we are voting for and what standards they hold. We should know where the candidate stands on certain issues and then vote for the one who we like. Voting just for republican or democrat isn't wise ;)

I feel like a bad citizen. With all the college stuff I had to do, I kind of neglected my registration card until i looked at it the day after it was due in if I wanted to vote in this election. Drat. Worst part is, I'm in AP Government and Politics class, and our teacher is always harping on the importance of our civic responsibility to vote. Drat it all. I think I should be pardoned b/c of all the frustrating deadlines I have to deal with.
