Geocities doesn't allow direct linking. so if anyone tries to, they will not be permitted to, and therefore, your bandwidth will not be used.

Note: the Caps Lock key is located on most keyboards on the left side, usually next to the A key :)

ummm... okay first let me i say i didnt know you could stop direct linking and secondly i have to disagree with dude, because i have done it to myself... i have a couple of free accounts i have had forever with geocities, and i now have a pay account thru geocities and i have direct linked to sum of my items on my free pages.

You can direct link to an image on a geocities server if the page you're putting it on is on a geocities server too. For example, if on the page http://geocities.com/trebulon7/index.html i direct linked to the image at http://geocities.com/buggirllu/BugGirlBig.jpg, then it would show up on the page. However, if i tried to link to the same image on a different site, for exapmle if i tried to post it here, i would get a red x.

Geocities isnt fool enough to let people direct link to their images, though there is no way to prevent people from linking to images on other geocities pages.

i found what you were looking for i didnt think it was possible but it actualy is possible to stop people from direct linking theres even a space to edit the code to allow certain sites to direct link (so say u wanted to direct link to your self like i do you would put your other webpage address in there)
