sorry if this is a stupid question, but i was wondering if there was a BLANK alt character. like, if you put the numbers in it would just come up as a space? or if not would there be another way to do this? ok, thanks.

I dont really see no point in an alt character! y not just use the space bar?

because HTML does not recognize white space. you can have any amount of space you want between tags, and it will be interpreted as a single space. that's why you need other codes in order to create multiple spaces.

You know what I just do to save time? If you have a solid color background, change the color t that color and use this: _
'Cause most people don't really highlight the whole sight, anyways.
