Well, I have some serious problems with it. When I click on the shortcut, it takes about 5-10 minutes for it to pop up and when it finally pop ups and I log in it freezes, so I need to wait about 5-10 minutes and then it works again. I've reinstalled it, but now it takes even longer...God! Maybe any program on my computer causes this..., the latest ones I installed was Rainlendar and Nicon Capture Editor (it came with my digital camera). So, I've no idea what's going on... :confusion

If you think it's conflicting with one of your recently-installed programs, try to kill those processes before you start up WLM. If WLM functions smoothly, then you've narrowed it down to a conflict issue.

Also, did you recently just download WLM?

Thank you! I downloaded it long ago, but I reinstalled it yesterday. So, what should I do now? Do I need to unistall the programs?

Do I need to unistall the programs?

I wouldn't necessarily uninstall both programs... now if I'm sure that I narrowed it down to a software conflict between Rainlender and the cam software vs. WLM, I would now try running Rainlender and WLM and then the cam software and WLM to further narrow it down.

Whoops, I meant uninstall. lol

And what do you mean by running? Cos the only program that is running is Rainlendar and the cam sofware is just installed on my computer.

Click CTRL + ALT + DELETE and then go into processes, but don't remove any processes that are set by the system or anything! Be careful this could harm the computer :)

Ah, ok, thanks, but...I still don't understand what to do.

Close Rainlendar and check from task manager that the process isn't there anymore. Then try to start messenger again. If you see the process after closing program then right-click and terminate. If you can't find the process named something like Rainlendar then search for the process name, you should be able to find it on their website or somewhere else.
Did that make more sense?

All right, so we can rule out recently-installed software conflicts... I tried Googling your issue, but only came up with this (http://forum.msgstuff.com/showthread.php?tid=502&pid=5117#pid5117) so far. :(

If you really want to be able to chat on MSN at the moment though, maybe try an old version (http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=msnm) in the meantime?

I tried defragging my hard drive and now my WLM is faster, BUT it still freezes when I log in. Oh well... Thanks for the link, I'll try searching the forum. And I'd like to use MSN 7.5 but if I download it, the sounds disappear, so I have to edit the Regedit file. Well, thanks for all your help. :)

I might have another solution, but it's a bit far-fetched. Well, I'm sure you've heard of patches to minimize the junk in instant messengers (such as removing ads and unnecessary sections). I use A-Patch (http://apatch.ikhost.com/) for my WLM. Maybe if you run this patch and check all the things you want removed, your WLM will start running faster.
