So I'm looking through ebay and what do I realize I want? Flash MX of course. ;) So anyway, I found the educational (new) version for $99 and then the commercial (new) for $155. You do the math on how much I'd save.

So my question is, for anyone who owns the educational version, do you lack features? I know that generally the educational is not as 'complete'. If it turns out educational is missing big features, I'll definitely invest in the $155. If its exactly the same, I'd rather not waste money. All I'm looking for is a 'yes' or 'no' answer from people who own the educational version. :)

I've owned both versions of Macromedia's Studio 5 (The 'boxed set' of Macromedia's flagship products prior Studio MX).

As far as I can tell there are NO features missing from the educational version. There are restrictions when buying educational versions of software:

Education version products are intended for training purposes only and may not be used for any commercial purpose. Macromedia will conduct periodic security audits to be certain of your education qualification.

In addition, you qualify for this pricing if you are:

End users in the United States and Canada...Education end users are full-time students, faculty, staff and employees of government-certified educational institutions, consisting of Elementary, Middle, Junior High and High Schools, Junior Colleges, C.E.G.E.P., Private and State Colleges and Universities.

So in other words; YES you can purchase the software, but don't try to make any money with it. =)

Thanks for your answer! That's what one seller told me after I purchased from him what I THOUGHT was commercial and now I'm returning i because if I wanted the educational, I'd buy it from someone cheaper. :D
