View Full Version : Websites
kenobi29 07-31-2006, 06:57 PM Curiousity...
I'm wondering what reasons other people would have for creating a website if it isn't for a business or something...
So for everyone that views this thread, could you maybe post why you started a website?
Me, I created a Freewebs site as an AIM Buddy Profile, then I got tired of that one and started one that's kind of a personal site for my two best friends and I. I don't think anyone besides us even knows it exists but that's okay, it's more of a site where we can post stuff rather than using AIM or e-mail.
So that's me, anyone else?? :D
harmor 07-31-2006, 07:05 PM I started my newest one to give people free hosting.
Chris 07-31-2006, 07:06 PM When I first created a site, it was supposed to be a site with games, puzzles, competitions and all that jazz but, to be honest it was rubbish.
I then jumped on the personal website/blog bandwaggon and am still riding it :)
bourdelson 07-31-2006, 07:17 PM I made it as a place to keep all of my stuff. It collects everything. So, yeah, it's a personal/blogging site. But, I'm pretty random, so I just find random stuff to put on there. My new one still isn't finished, though.
That, and it's a good way to learn stuff and keep your mind active and meet people [because you come to sites like this one].
SUPER RP06 07-31-2006, 09:24 PM I created my website in the early 2000s in Homestead, but switched to Yahoo! Geocities. It was called "Ryan's World". But as years pass by, I switched from Geocities to Tripod. I tried Freewebs, but stopped using it. Then I learned HTML in my computer class at my high school a couple years ago. Then I used Iframes and make layouts from divs to tables. Today, my website is called "RP06" and it's hosted in Geocities. I might move the site to a new host in the coming months. My site is a personal website, plus information about metric/decimal time. If I get a domain, it will going to be http://www.rynprov.ca, but I'm not going to get a domain now, maybe later in the decade (hopefully before 2010) I'm going to add more pages to my site this week.
Arwen 07-31-2006, 09:31 PM I stated my current website because I love making graphics, so I needed a place where I could host them and share with people. :D
amyaurora 07-31-2006, 09:37 PM I made a website of me. Useless to anyone else but fun for me. :) I've done graphics, blog and such; plus a public bookmarks full of favorites but all and all everything is still all me.
Scottishchick 07-31-2006, 09:50 PM The current website I am making is a place to show everyone my pixel art. I love pixeling! :D
Greeney 07-31-2006, 09:54 PM I run a forum that's kind of like a mixture between Harry Potter and Survivor.
danielcom3 08-10-2006, 04:14 PM I started my website. but i don't remember why i did.

Well I have a 'company' if you want to call it that, it's basically me and a friend, but my site, I made it to help people with webdesign and help people get in touch and meet new people, hence the profiles, and the chat-room (the same on Lissa has)
Eddy Bones 08-10-2006, 04:42 PM I originally started out with a blog. After that I bought a domain and hosting and made a company. That never took off (not that I ever really expected it to) so I went back and got new hosting and a new domain and made a new blog. That lasted until a few days ago. Now I'm just turning my site into a portfolio/resume.
jeyjack 08-10-2006, 06:07 PM For me it's a passion,I just like it ;)
