India's Department of Telecommunications (DoT) passed an order to ISPs Friday to block several websites. The list is confidential. Indian ISPs have been slowly coming into compliance. SpectraNet, MTNL, Reliance, and as of Monday afternoon, Airtel. State-backed BSNL and VSNL have not started yet but likely will soon. The known list of blocked domains is *.blogspot.com, *.typepad.com and geocities.com/*. Yes folks, the Indian government has decided to censor blogs and refused to explain why.

Well, I can understand China doing this, y'know... since they're actually communist. But I'm pretty sure India isn't communist or a dictatorship. :confusion

Hope my website isn't blocked! If it's blocked, then I'm moving my site to a new host!

Tokyo, Lissa--I thought the same thing too. China, I can understand. India, not really.
Looking at the article, it seems to be a move to stop terrorist groups from communicating, but one never knows. One would think that it's in response to the train bombings, but I don't think you could force anything through any bureaucracy in a week. (Maybe it was in the works beforehand...?)
