View Full Version : When will rap be on the back-burner?
harmor 07-04-2006, 04:58 PM You know how genres alternate on how popular they are?
In the early 90's grunge was on top, then rap took over, after rap was rock.
From the end of the popularity of rock to present day rap took the lead.
I think it's long over due for another genre of music take the fore-front.
Idiotic Creation 07-04-2006, 05:21 PM I agree, I think we need a change.
Although I have no clue what it would be.
Arwen 07-04-2006, 06:59 PM I like rock music! :guitar: :D
Douglas 07-04-2006, 07:46 PM I like all music (except country), I think pop will replace rap :P
Lissa 07-04-2006, 08:04 PM Err, I hope that it's sometime soon, I'm not a big fan of rap. Everything is getting completely manufactured, so I'm gonna vote pop is the next takeover, though I think it's already begun! :P

PunchbagBob2 07-07-2006, 07:44 PM i like rock a little more than rap:guitar: :guitar:

Pop took over for a brief period, then everyone was like "Nah, not good anymore", lol, I like rock, rap, alternitive, and some others.
Angelica 07-08-2006, 02:12 AM I actually am a rap hater myself. Always hated it. I've always wished it was gone. So many bad messages in it, and besides heavy metal I've never known such negative music. It's long overdue for retirement.
I'm a huge music fan-- I like almost every genre, except rap. I'm not being discriminatory, I just think it doesn't really qualify as a music either. It's just kind of, fast talking, as one of my friends puts it.
Brian-W.O.G 07-08-2006, 02:44 AM I haven't ever liked rap that much either. For one, I can never understand the words. I think a techno-rock-like music should take over. Like a mix between daft punk (european band) and kutless. Resulting in something like the Oban star racers opening theme song (if you guys have heard it).
God bless
ricca 07-08-2006, 04:16 AM Ugh, I am tired of rap. :( Some songs are alright, but they are all starting to sound the same to me. I also think pop is going to make a comeback... You can see the beginnings of it already!!
onigiri 07-08-2006, 04:45 AM I absolutely abhor rap. Not only are the lyrics unintelligible, (and usually negative, as Angelica said), but the most of the "music" itself is devoid of harmony/melody. Vehicles spouting rap at full volume doesn't improve my opinion of it either.
thezeppzone 07-08-2006, 02:46 PM I really don't know... In my opinion rap isn't even on top anymore, in fact, I don't think it has been. The last year or two hip hop has been the big thing, which is so much different than rap. For some, they might seem the same, but they aren't. I listen to some hip hop; I won't listen to rap, because I agree with everyone else, you can't even understand half of it.
There are so many possibilities of what could "take over". I also believe that it shouldn't matter what takes over. Everyone has their own opinions and favorite types of music that they will still listen to anyways, so it shouldnt matter what type of music is on top. Because then if it changes and everyone starts listening to that, I just think those are your little trend followers who can't decide what they like for themselves.
