Brushes: I click on the brush tool, then up top on the utility palette next to the little preview I press the little arrow, then it should open up in a kinda drop down menu, then I click on the little arrow inside the circle on the far right then I go to load brushes, that should open up in a window. Then I minimise PS then open up wherever you saved the brush, copy it. Maximise PS then paste it in the little window that came up when I pressed load brushes. :)
Still stuck? Let Me Know!

Magic Wand: Say your picture is of a dog and it is black but has a white paw, if you click on the white bit of the paw, the wand will select all the white bits of the paw and any surrounding white bits. It works for any colour!

I probobly confused you more than help.... Sorry.

for the magic wand tool you can seperate a background from a person that is on the same graphic for example. It just selects all the same colours in one selection so it's easy for you to edit something (selected areas can be filled with the flood fill) or to delete it. but you can use it for many things, like give all parts another colour, or only delete certain area's of the picture (so no messing with the eraser tool)
