Do you know any place that sells DVD R/W drives, ONLY DVD, not CD too. I just bought a Computer and I added in a CD R/W and it can read DVDs, but I want to burn DVDs and they cost a ton for the whole bundle, so do they sell just the DVD part?

If it burns CDs, it most likely burns DVDs as well. I don't think they sell only DVD RW (although I could be wrong, you can always search for it online or something). But you probably have to use a particular program if you want to burn DVDs.

no, CD-RWs drives can't burn DVDs, only DVD-RW drives can :)

I've actually never seen (I don't think) a DVD-RW drive that also functions as a CD-RW drive. since I've only ever seen one type (that doesn't specify CD-RW capabilities), my guess is that they're all the same- and that you'll only be able to get the kind that's a CD-RW also. and DVD-RW drives are quite expensive to begin with, no matter what kind you find. if you don't want to spend that much, just wait until the price comes down- they're still relatively new.

THanks, I went there and about the closest I found was a DVD ROM, but it doesn't write. I still need a good monitor and maybe (hopefully) by the time I get that the prices will be down a little...

actually, I would wait on purchasing a DVD writer. since the technology is so relatively new, things haven't really been standardized yet. just for writing DVDs, there's CD-R, CD+R, CD-RW, and CD+RW. I honestly don't know what the difference is lol. I do know that there are drives that can record all those formats, but you still have to get the proper type of media, and make sure it can be played in the target device- either a DVD-ROM drive, or a home DVD player.

Hm... you do have a good point there. Thanks, I think I will wait now.
