I would like to use home.htm as my main page instead of index.htm. So if I type in (for example, this is not my real site) edwardto.kylosa.com, will it automatically go to home.htm? I have deleted my index.htm

No. The first page will always be index even if you can open the site without it.

Ex: myblog.blogger.com will always be by default: myblog.blogger.com/index.html

actually, it depends on how your host is setup.

in many cases, if the "index" is not present, then the server should go down a list of different other pages such as "home" to see if they exist and show that instead.

you will need to contact your host support for a true answer though.

why not use index?

You can use a splash page as your index and then link it to the home page.
