i know how to make drop down menus that target inline frmes but is there any way you can make it so that some links open up ina new window and others open up in the inline frame?

You can only have the links target to one area in a drop down menu. If you want some to open in the iframe, and some in a new window, you'd have to make 2 drop down menus.
