I really hate to say, but i'm sure everyone knows how to change their resolution of the computer, if they are on here at least.

some people may not, more of the younger kids and win 98 is not really that popular anymore, so it is probably a good reference for people who still have it!

Mk but would you be designing sites when you didn't even know how to use your PC's properties window? Well it's a reference, but still.

The easiest way to test your site in different resolutions isn't to change your screen res at all :)

It's to change your browser size to the same size as the screen res you want to test against (obviously, you can't go any bigger than your max screen res)

"But Raph," I hear you cry, "How I do I know when my browser is exactly 800x600 pixels in size when my screen's 1280x1024?"

Ah, young grasshopper, just make an image in Paint that's the same size as the screen res you want to test against. Then open that image in irfanview, resize your browser window to be the same size as the image, and bingo - instant 800x600 window.

Hope that helps someone :)

The easyiest way is to download a plugin for your browser like web developer toolbar )for IE and FireFox(
There you can resize your browser to any common resolution with ONE click.
No messing around with windows, just resizing the active window.

Plugins help but it also helps to know ways around it in the event one is using a computer that is not their own.
