Hi all,

I wanted to open my Outlook Express and my mom allready told me it was reaaaly slow, but this time it doesn't even open. I only get the begin window, the blue one with "all rights served" etc on it. Then it stays there, the 'waiting' cursor goes away and nothing happens. After that i push ctrl + alt + delete and in the list it says

msimn (doesn't react)

so i close it again. Does anyone knows what this is or could be? or has anyone ever experienced this before? thanks

i have version 6 and i use windows 98

Love,
Mirna

I've gotten that error before and I couldn't find a way to fix it. I just stopped using outlook express, because it's evil. (Apparently there's all these back doors and whatnot.) If someone else knows what's up then that's cool, but it's not a very secure program to begin with.

you should probably try looking through the help section at microsoft.com

it may take a while (I find it rather difficult to find anything there), but I did find a solution to a problem with Word I was having a while back. if it's a common problem, they probably have a help page on it with step by step instructions to fix it.

yeah i checked there, but finding something there is even more difficult then finding somethng on my own room

well yeah my mom has her adress on outlook express. It doesn't bother me that much, but it does bother her offcourse. And since i'm the one that is always behind the computer i should be the one that has to fix it grrrr

Thanks both ;)

I've been getting that a lot, but mostly when I click on the Outlook icon and then open up another program. When I then minimize the second program, I find that Outlook is always frozen. So I've just been letting Outlook load before opening anything else. Occasionally, it'll happen for no apparent reason...

I'm not sure if this is related to Outlook, but often when I start up my comp, I get Spool32 has done something illegal (which it hasn't). Whenever that happens, I'm unable to open WordPerfect or Photoshop, so it's possible that could be responsible for my problems....

Hehe, I use all the same versions as you.

I did found some ways to fix it, but it didn't worked for me. I had rename the inbox.dbx file or something, didn't worked. Then i had to move all the files, didn't worked. it DOES make the new files, but the program doesn't start.

So my question is, i have all my information on how to set up outlook express with the email account. So in inbox.dbx is that the file where ALL the messages are stored? if so, can i just trying to use Ms outlook (so not Outlook Express) and load those files into that program? Or another way, delete OE and install it again, and then load the files into it? is that possible?

thanks

i'm so angry arrggg. Yesterday i did a 'defragmentation' on my computer, with the thought that might 'clean it up' so that OE does start. It did, but my MOM opened it. So next time i wanted to try, it doesn't react..... (thanks mom, thanks allot)

how come it does once, but then doens't anymore? doesn't this has something to do with 'space' ? (whatever space it must be) my harddrive is 50% full, so there's plenty of space..... i really don't get it...
