Is it possible for X to purchase a domain name that will last for 2 years, for Y?

Basicly, Can someone who isnt the owner of a site buy a domain name for someone else?

And also, instead of having to pay each year, is it possible to pay for TWO years?

Where can I find the cheapest domain names? If I have someone who wants to purchase a dmoain name for me, would I have to give out any personal information?

Hi!

You have to give out your personal information if you want to purchase a domain;there has to be someone responsible for it who can be contaced if some abuse or law violation happens.
A few host offer to register the domain for you - some will register it in your name, some won't.
In the last case, if you want to change your host, they still hold your domain, so it's better to let it register in your name.
There are some companies who will let you pay for 2 years in advance, but I can't give names, because the host I have is exactly what I wanted, so I didn't bother to search for any other...

yahoo is selling for 2.99 a year now i think
if u get biz cheaper some places
alot more is involved then the cost of domaine name.

and someplaces will let u pay to keep ur name off the public books
so less folks can know who owns the domaine

if ur in Canada www.netfirms.com might be good choice.
they dont have US phone number They sell domaine $4.99 American
