Hi All,
A double question - I've had a Blogger account for some months now, hosted on my own site. At first all was great, then all of a sudden, it is now refusing to publish anything and has been for a while. Anyone with similar experiences?

Second: because of this, I've looked into WordPress and, well, am I the only person who is just completely lost as to the installation process? Do you have to have some sort of database/sql experience to do this? I have neither and the 5-step installation process looks like it could have been written in Chinese. Would I be better off with something else then or is it reasonably 'learnable'?

Thanks!

Second: The Wordpress installation is quite simple! :)

-If you have a cPanel for your domain --> Click Fanastico in your icon panel, then in the Fantastico page find in the menu Wordpress. IT will install it for you.

-If you want to learn the other way ---> Unzip the Wordpress zip file. Open it and find the file "wp-config-sample.php". Found it? Now change the name to "wp-config.php". Upload ALL the files in your Wordpress file to your domain, you can either make it's index page your site's MAIN index page or you can make a sub-folder on your domain and upload there. It's your choice... Now you've got everything uploaded right? Well I took this right from the list...

Open /wp-admin/install.php in your browser. This should setup the tables needed for your blog. If there is an error, double check your wp-config.php file, and try again. If it fails again, please go to the support forums (http://wordpress.org/support/)with as much data as you can gather.

OK, I'm so sorry, I really have no idea what cPanel is and how I would go about finding out if my host has it or not. Is it a type of control panel?
So sorry for being so dense and thanks for the help.

Yes it's the domain's Control Panel. If you don't have don't worry about it :)
