View Full Version : After 2 Years of Waiting...I Can Drive!
SSPrincess 03-13-2006, 08:20 AM This past Friday I finally got my driver's license!!! After waiting 2 years, 2 months due to the whole seizure mishap and 2 weeks because I nicked a cone coming out of parallel parking....I have my license!
Finally....I can drive!
...Or not. I don't actually have a car, so it's actually kinda pointless of me having a license as I have nothing to drive.
Backlight 03-13-2006, 09:21 AM Well you know what?? Thats still pretty cool :)
allie 03-13-2006, 12:47 PM Wow, congratulations!
Did you only have one seizure? My husband had one, and I thought they wouldn't let him drive for a while. He was allowed to drive though, and everything worked out fine. Glad it worked out for you too :D
Oooh thats very cool!!! Good luck getting a car :D
Arwen 03-13-2006, 02:04 PM Congrats! I have 2 years left! I'm sure you'll get a car very soon! ;)
thezeppzone 03-13-2006, 02:08 PM Sweet...
My test is Saturday... I've been waiting a while simply because my dad was never home for me to practice driving with him, but yeah... I hope I do good, I'm confident...

Kittie 03-13-2006, 04:52 PM CONGRATS! i know how you feel about waiting! my parents made me go thru ALL THESE CLASSES and then after i had my ms license (i was 17) we moved to ga-- i had to retake ALL THE TESTS AGAIN and i failed the drivin thing! (you wouldnt BELIEVE how different the tests are) and i had to retake everythin only bc i was 17- i was a few months shy of my 18th bday when i finally got my license, and then i had to renew it to get the actual "can drive friends around" and "drive past 11" or some junk. the system is so screwed up..
Cherchezlafemme 03-13-2006, 05:14 PM That's great!!! I remember when I got my liscence, it was really rushed since my dad was deployed at the time. It's fun driving though! The only not fun thing is gas :(
Magln Meow 03-13-2006, 05:29 PM I'm still waiting... Only a few years more. :P But Congratulations! :cheer2:

I got my permit on February 9th, a few months after taking drivers ed :D After i've had it for 6 months I can take my DL test (If my parents let me :hehe:). (You have to be 16 in MN)
Owlie42 03-14-2006, 12:50 AM Congrats on your license!
I originally got my temps when I was 16 and took all the driver's ed classes, ended up putting it off for a more than a year, then last year my mom put her foot down and said "If you want to fence next year, I suggest you get your license." So I did all the 50 hours of driving and the in-car. Then I went to take the test...I passed first time, but I took it early in the morning, and I was driving on a one-way street heading east, and came to a traffic light (which was red, so far as I could tell because the sun was in my eyes) and stopped. The examiner then says "It's green." I was thinking something like "I don't know how you could tell, because I sure as heck can't see it from here." Then, on the way back to the BMV, she told me to change lanes. I had had the mirror adjusted so that it didn't take too much effort to look at. It's 8:00 on a Saturday morning, so there's nothing behind me, so I take a quick glance and change lanes. She's there going "You need to look behind you when you change lanes!" I did...and there's nothing there I didn't have a car for a few weeks, though. I'm sure you'll get one soon. :)
Congrats again!

You actually DID the 50 hours of driving? I took Driver's Ed at school, and we were each supposed to do something like 15 hours each to graduate from the "program", but we each only did about 10 and my teacher signed off anyway. In all, before I got my license, I may have had 15 hours  I definitely learned most of my driving skills by driving by myself :scared: I didn't have to take the driving test though, because after you take a Driver's Ed course you just have to hand them the waiver and it's done!!
Chris 03-14-2006, 07:49 PM I've still got to wait a few months until I can start driving (5 months to be precise) - I can't wait.
I hope you have fun with yours! :D

My mum wouldn't let me get away with anything less...:grouch: I could have gotten away with 35...and used a lot less gas.
Patrick 03-14-2006, 09:10 PM Oh congratulations!! I can't drive yet, I'll have my permit in two years though. :P
rainbow_monkey 03-14-2006, 11:20 PM I'll get my permit in ~thinking~ .....
In just over a year. :D I don't know if I will be a good driver.
Watch out, whoever is on the road. :hehe:
