I have some songs and clips I want to put up on my site. I got permissions from where I got those from and some I bought. I want to ask is it ok if I post them up on my site? My friends say that I should be careful because I might break some kind of copyright law or something. Cause the singers make those songs are to sell them and by posting them up would cause me trouble. I don’t want to get into trouble so I just wanna make sure first.
Incase if the answer about is yes, I will get in trouble. Then I have another question: What if I have them up for people to LISTEN only (like a music box) and they cannot download them down, then they won’t be able to own any songs. Would that be ok then?

lol it isn't that easy to talk to the artist. I mean, it's not like we can email them and ask for their permissions. So those sites that have musics up are illegal?

technically you don't personally need to get permission, but you would need to pay royalty fees, which could get quite expensive.

what if I put up the music in a way like advertising musics, and if they want to own it they have to buy it in a store? You know in some store they let us listen to some musics, and we just click on which music we'd like to listen to and if we like it we'll buy the music. Would that be ok then?

like people allready said: you have to ask persmission or like dude said you have to pay for it to use it. So that also means in that way. in any way of using it.

the best way is to use midi's.

but i have another question: what if you record the song with a microphone into .wav format and THEN put it on your site. Is it still illegal then? Thanks if anyone knows.
