ok, so I decided to start a personal site. I have my layout done, and now I need to ask a stupid question lol
How do those blog sites work? I mean, I put my layout there and then update? I'm really confused, cause I was about to start my site, update offline and then upload that to geocities, my host. Can anybody please explain me a little about all that stuff. I know I'm slow :(
Thanks a lot

Well if your using geocities (free) you probably have to update manually. You're going to want to get a layout in place, and leave a spot where you're blog or updated text will be. You can do this several ways, with plain text, iframes, or more advanced things (all available on this site). If you're using pagebuilder you just open it up and change/add text where you want it to go, if you're using the html editor its the same but you have to find it in the code (if you havn't done it before). I dont know if this helped at all.. post again?

Thanks so much. I was willing to update manually, but as I have heard some about blogger and such sites, I was thinking if there would be any big difference. I'm using iframes (which I'm still learning lol) but I think I can manage this way.
Thanks a lot for your help ;)

www.geocities.co.uk does support FTP so you can use blogger.com (for example) with it to update with a blog tool

www.geocities.com wouldn't let you allow that anymore, like said above. so you have to edit it online

It depends on what you want :) if you want to have a little site, with not too much to change you can choose for the way you have it now. But if you really need something that helps you change it then .co.uk from geocities would be a good way, or maybe getting hosted ;)

Yeah, I thought about getting hosted, but not now. I mean, I want to run my personal site, but I'm also running another, so I don't really know if I'm gonna have enough time and I wanna see whether I can really do it or not. If everything goes well, I will try to get hosted :D
Thanks for your help ;)

All the Geocities for the national countries (geocities.co.uk, geocities.com.au) have FTP, but geocities.com got rid of it. But the national ones don't have Pagebuilder.

(though you won't need that if you ftp!)

if you want to read more about FTP check the following page. It's the help section from geocities.co.uk
