This is wierd. I know HTML Front and back. I know 99% of the codes I would say, and I also know CSS in how to position and how to change colors, etc....

One thing I can't do though, is design websites.

When you to websites, say even here, it has a very professional look.

I Have the whole Macromedia Suite (Flash, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, etc.) So I could make the graphics, I just don't know how to make them look nicely.

Can anyone either point me to some links or books or help on how to design sites (Not HTML, just how to design them to look nicely)

I want to be able to eventually make quality people would have in professional sites, right now they look plain and ugly)

Thanks for the help in advanced!

But it is actually quite good. If it had a header picture, some padding so the text won't be from border to border and interesting context it would be very good site. Another thing that is quite popular lately is using background patterns that are of two shades of one color.
At times when you have no inspiration for design looking at well-designed pages might help. Like this one: http://www.csszengarden.com/?cssfile=124/124.css

Its not a case of do this, then that, then this etc. Theres no set way how to make one, it's down to each person, just keep practicing and making smaller scale things and when you find something you like go from there, goodluck!

I'm a beginner at HTML, but I would think that web design is like making a poster for a project. I just go for somethinng that's visually appealing. Looks pretty good to me
