right click on the mounted disk that pops up in my computer, go tot eh properties and give full permissions to everyone. (just check all of the boxes).

Now, i dont think windows xp has a recursive permission handler, so you might have to change the permissions of eeverything manually.

ok im not entirely sure what you meant but i right-clicked the removable drive E folder and went to properties. There was nothing available to tick so i obviously didnt tick it :) I looked around a little bit - would it help to format it? there was a format option available. If that would help would you recommend 'quick' ; 'full' or 'copy system files only' . Also - i have windows 98 ( it IS compatable, i checked) so i dont know if that makes a difference.

dont format it, that'll erase everything on the disk

your first post confused me... so if its a cd, just get a ripper and rip the files off the disk

Don't triple post please.

First try converting the wmp file to an mp3 via a free converter. Make a back-up of the song jic. If that doesn't work, copy the file to somewhere else, then try it.

you're trying to copy some songs into your mp3 player right? i think im starting to get you now... well if thats true,

try convering the songs to mp3 (itunes can do this for free) and using the software that came with the mp3 to put songs there instead of copying and pasting

sorry about the triple posting. bad habit :(
the mp3 sez it uses .wmp tho...il try it anyway. The mp3 didnt come with ne software to put the songs there. it sez " you will now be able to 'drag and drop' mp3 files to load them onto the mp3 player from your computer". Ill try converting it...i think there was some software for that, ill try it.
cheers
