Yes,

I am back for awhile it looks like. I've been sooo busy with school and barrel racing - that I haven't been able to do the stuff that I normally do online - like read the posts here for one. LOL.

Okay, my question is...has anyone ordered anything from Amazon.com? How long did it take for your order to arrive from them?

Well, I live in England which means I use amazon.co.uk... I hope I'm still of use to you though.

We've probably ordered about 5 batches of books/videos/DVDs/video games over the past few years, the most recent being about 2 weeks ago. It takes between 3 days and 2 weeks for the stuff to come, depending on what you order and whether it's in high demand. We've never ever had any problems with them, they're always delivered on time and there isn't anything wrong with the stuff once it comes :)

Amazon really is great :P

Firstly: Is it safe and secure?

and

Secondly: My parents don't want to use their credit cards online. Is there any other way in which I can pay people such as amazon.co.uk to use their services?

You honestly don't have to worry about using a credit card on Amazon. The site is secure and I order tons of stuff from there and my parents have never had a problem. I'm not sure if there's another way to order stuff from there or not.

Most definitely it's secure, there's no way that anybody could ever obtain your credit card number or anything... I can understand where your parents are coming from, but I'm yet to find a more secure site than Amazon.

You can pay by check or money order also. And because my dad is paranoid about giving credit card numbers out online, which I tried to talk him into - just wasn't done. So we sent a check for the amount. Now, this is where it REALLY ticks me off, and I wish that Amazon.com listed a phone number. I sent an email regarding my order, asking how long it would take to gety my check, and to ship my order. You know what the reply was?

"Typically 2-3 weeks to get the check, and another month to ship the stuff."

Excuse me, I live in New Mexico - they are in Seattle, WA. IIt does NOT take 2-3 weeks to get a check, 2-3 days at the most. And it most certainly doesn't take a month to send a shipment. So what is up? And I'm planning on sending out another order from them out today!

God...this has me so mad...

the problem with checks is that most businesses wait for them to clear (which can take a week or two) before sending anything, because they don't want to find out that you don't have the money in your account once they've already sent the stuff.

are you sure they said 2-3 weeks, and that it wasn't a mistake. it should get to them within a few days by mail, and about a month might be right, since some products say that they will ship in 2-3 weeks based on availability.

you really don't have to worry about using a credit card at amazon.com. they have a secure server, and I've never had problems nor have I heard about anyone having security problems with them.

and also, most stuff isn't sent from Seattle, at least not to me. either their warehouse or one of them if they have multiple (which is likely) is in Pennsylvania, I believe. they probably have more than one, so you probably have one even closer to you :P

I reread the email that was sent to me, and it does infact say that it takes 2-3 weeks for them to get the check. I have emailed them again about it though -- and see if I get anything different from them.

This is my first time really using them. So, I don't know. And I really don't understand why it would take SO long anyway. I know that when I order from NRS (National Roper Supply) for stuff for my horse, its doesn't take that long. I send a check, with the order and within two or three days, I have my order already.

So, why Amazon.com cannot do the same thing - I will probably never know. And I think that they need to get a phone number or something.
