I am very @nal about things. If it can be organized, I'll do everything in my power to make sure it's as organized as it can possibly be LOL! It can be annoying at times, though. For example, when I put songs on my MP3 player, there is a field for "release year." If I don't fill it in, it bothers me... Even though it doesn't display on the MP3 player screen, and I really don't care when the song was released, it's just this big blank space staring at me on the computer screen screaming "FILL ME IN!!" so I do... and then get mad at myself for spending so much time on amazon/google looking up release dates...

I might be starting to feel sorry for you. I mean all the time you use for that, you could be helping people here or being with friends or doing a layout... Or you could just enjoy entering dates since it can feel good aswell (for a while), but that's the top geekyness :).

You don't need to do it as MonkeyBizzle did. You can simply register, install a plugin and continue to listening to your favourite player and after a while all your songs will be there and you can see which songs are the most popular or find people with similar music taste.

If I didn't do it for this, I would have had to do it eventually anyways when I put my music on my MP3 player... You make me out to be some uber geek and I'm really not. I just like organization in my life.

I'm glad I decided not to use iTunes. =P I was using iTunes for a little while to tag my music because it's easier to do than in Windows Media Player... But then I realized that it only changed the iTunes tags for most of the songs so when I opened it in another program they would be wrong again... (that's part of the reason I literally spent HOURS the other day organizing my music because I had to do it twice for most of my songs...). It seems to work pretty well with Windows Media Player. =)

It's a thing that adds extra features to programs. In this case, the plug-in records your song info and sends it to the last.fm website so other people can see what kind of music you listen to and who you listen to the most, etc. After you play a certain number of tracks, it matches you up with other people who like similar music as you, and recommends bands that you might like.

Nah... I've run a spy/ad ware and virus scan since I've installed my plug-in and nothing came up.

i would download it but i dont have antivirus so im being really paranoid right now... is there a way you can put songs but not have it need to be recorded w/ the plug in (like if you just listed them or somthin)

No. That's the whole point of audioscrobbler to keep track of what you listen to as you listen to it.

i would download it but i dont have antivirus so im being really paranoid right now...There's no reason to be paranoid, there are many users and I've never heard something about spyware coming with this service nor have I got any spyware myself. So if you're really interested in it, that shouldn't stop you.
