I've never had much luck getting msn messenger to work on my computer. Does your system meet the minimum requirements? (http://join.msn.com/messenger/requirements)

Unfortunately, they don't have much support for their product, I didn't look very hard, but I didn't find a faq on that site for people who are having problems.

Good luck, anyway :D

They should at very least have some kind of faq there so people can try to sort out their problems!

What exactly happens?

That happened to me. I downloaded it yesterday, and was having trouble logging in.

Try these:
1. Restart your computer
2. If you do not have administrative access, login via admin and open it that way
3. If you have a virus blocker like Norton AntiVirus, open that and find the accepted applications or something like that, and add the new MSN to it.

Hope one of those works :D

OK, sorry you still can't get it to work.

It's just because you didn't make any reference to trying them out that I assumed you missed my post :)

go into you internet options and check the connections (You said internet explorer was set to working offline). Make sure that yoru connections are set up properly or else anythign microsoft based will have problems connecting to the internet.

also, it was msn the whole time. Windows messenger = the included messenger, mostly for corporate use.

If you want ot get rid of windows messenger you can remove it by going into add remove programs, then to winodws components and unchecking windows messenger, then you have ot do a start --> run and run this line of code

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

that will completely blast away anything windows messenger. i would recommend everyone does this as windows messenger is a huge security risk.
