You would use an FTP program to upload all the files and then, depending on which FTP you use, right click on the file once it's been uploaded and choose properties. Then you can set the CHMOD value there. =)

with smartFTP you right clikc the file you want to change the permissions of then select properties and type in what you want it to be chmodded to!

Yes you do... It says so in the readme file...

can someone please explain to me what box i put 777 in after i have gone to properties?

There should be a box called "permissions." I'm not entirely sure though because i use CuteFTP instead of SmartFTP. If you want, you can take a screen shot of what you get when you go to Properties and show it to us. Then we can tell you exactly where to put it. Unless of course someone who uses SmartFTP sees this first LOL!

Your host should give you a username and password. Ask them first what it is and then log on with that.

host?

do you mean like geocities?

Monkey Bizzle

Is geocities your host? You can't use CuteNews on Geocities because it requires PHP and you don't get that with them. I also don't believe you can use FTP with Geocities either.

Yeah, Also Geocities doesn't support php i believe and neither does freewebs. Both dont support php which is what you need to use cutenews.. :(
