I saw this done and I think it would go really well with what I want to do to my layout.

I've searched on this forum but can't find anything pertaining specifically to LJ layouts... anyway, i guess my question is can I create a frame/iframe for just my entries?

You can't use frames/iframes, but you can use a scrolling div. Look here: http://www.livejournal.com/community/everything_lj/
