View Full Version : wanted: a good game idea for a website

Guys, I need your help.
I've made this website about our vacation.
It contains some 30 animations about us getting into all sorts of situations, it plays a different animation every day (starting the day we leave).
There's also a map of Thailand that shows where we are (so that changes every day too).
Our travel schedule is on there, and when I'm uploading pictures from an Internet café, there will be a link to pictures, and I can add a journal from an internet café too.
There's also a tagboard so people can say hi - that's about it.
Nearly everything was programmed in Flash.
With two weeks to go the website is pretty much finished, but I want to add one more thing, a game. I just can't think of what game to add. I want something funny, funny at our expense or otherwise - but I just really can't think of anything.
So, any ideas?
It doesn't have to be super original, so if you know of a real funny existing online game that I could nick the idea from (I'm getting pretty handy programming stuff these days), that would be fine.

How about a game were you have to take people to different parts of Thailand, by either, car, plance or bike.

that sounds intriguing - but I'm not sure what the general idea is, and where the fun is - do you have an example of a similar game?

A bit like Simpsons road rage, where you have to get them to places before the time runs out.

There could be obstercalls <sp?> when you are trying to get somewere

what about very simple games like you would find on the back a a children's cereal box? with flash you could make them interactive, like a maze or connect the dots

I think it would be nicer to have something that bears a connection with Thailand, and/or with us.
The idea Kier came up with sounds good, only I still don't have any idea really what it is about - and the Simpsons game is not online somewhere so I can't get a clearer picture.
I very rarely play games, so it's very difficult to think of what sort of game would be good for this purpose.

Okay here's what you can do. ONE ON ONE ACTION PACKED FIGHTING FISH COMBAT !!

THAILAND FIGHTERS: The characteristic of all Thailand fighting fish is speed, agility, quickness, and nonstop hitting. They are also armed with very sharp teeth that could cut through metal. What they lack in size they gain in quickness. They are also among the most aggressive fighters in the world. If there is any flaw in these fighter it would be their scales and their size.

And the Thailand almond leaf tea bags could be like powerups or something.

:P

I mean, provided you see some during your vacation and all. But the poor fish...

that's an interesting idea... it would be original, too, I will give it some thought...

I'll try and explain what you have to do in Road rage.

You choose a person from the Simspons (So that could be a member of your family)

You drive round taking other people from the simspons to parts of springfield. (This could be parts of where you are going)

The quicker you do take people places the more money you get. (So you could buy upgrades for you car, or stuff)

Thinks thats about it.

Just to elaborate on kier's explanation:-

You are driving a car. Person A says they want to go to Place 1 in Thailand. You drive them there within a time limit.
Once you get there within the time limit, Person B will appear, asking you to take them to Place 2. etc. etc.

Do you get what I mean?

I think we had a game like that in the arcade too, remember? There was a bus and you had to take the people to a certain stop without running out of time (and without running people over).

do we still have that? it would really help with the visualising part. Since I'm completely unfamiliar with the Simpsons and I'm far from experienced with games in general...
I am working on a type of hangman game, where people have to guess words connected to the vacation or to Thailand, and they get to choose which one of us gets hanged (us being me, my husband and my brother-in-law, the 3 of us are taking this vacation together), but it would be nice to have something more exciting.
I do appreciate all your input, guys!

Its the same concept as a game called "Crazy Taxi". You can view a couple of videos of it at: http://media.dreamcast.ign.com/articles/095/095603/vids_1.html

I havn't watched them so I don't know how useful they'll be. They might be quite large.

Hope that helps.
Thanks,
Chris :D

I could only find two video's on that site, both to do with taxi animations. They look cool, but I still don't really get what the game is about LOL.
Oh well, I think I'll stick to the hangman game since I might be running out of time otherwise - the vacation is only 11 days away, and I have a big party with lots of guests this weekend - so I still need to work 7 full days, do all my shopping for the guests, cook a 4 or 5 course dinner for 15+ guests, do my packing for the vacation... between all that, I doubt I will manage to find the time to program something as advanced as that 3-D Simpson's game, especially since I still don't understand what it is about ;)
Thanks for the help though!
