No, not the marriage kind :)

I'd like to propose that the length of time allotted to edit a post be extended.

I know a lot of times we run into a problem where people double post when they COULD have used the edit button. But for me, a lot of times I think of something I want to add, or something I forgot to say and I can't change it because I dont make the 5 min deadline. I swear that 5 minutes goes by at ludacris speed!

 for me five minutes goes slow.. its funny i post so fast that sometimes i get the "you cant post more than once in 60 seconds" message. and on the computer i use a lot of times the edit button doesnt even work. so i have a LOT of typos and im always to lazy to check it before i post. :P

Yah, it passes WAY too fast! I say, like 7, 8, 9, 10 minutes would suffice for me.

I think the reason is that this is a busy forum, and sometimes people respond straight away after a post, and if then someone edits their posts, the replies don't make sense.
I would be in favour of it being longer too.

Ah, but then, if the edit time was longer, the replier would be able to edit. All in favor say "Aye!"

Aye!

yeah, i NEVER use the edit button :P but thats only because i cant  but i think it should be like ten mins or something, but not forever because then it would ge weird and make no sense etc etc

I use the edit button a lot 'cause I always forget to add stuff. But I think I've only run out of time to edit two or three times, so it's not that big a deal for me. :P But yeah, five minutes does seem like not enough time for some people, especially in the help forums.

I don't need to edit my posts that much but when I do, I always manage to do it before my 5 minutes runs oot :)

I would be for making it 10 minutes, though I haven't had a problem with the 5 minutes.

are you kidding? I'm still trying to figure this whole forum thing out...how in the bleep did ya'll get thousands of posts?

I dont think I will get 1000 if I'm on here a year....I guess I dont ussually have much to say....well, and then someone gets me talkin bout art....eh

My proposal should be 15-30 minutes.

5 minutes is too short! (in my opinion)

Or we don't want any post editing time limits at all.

I'm all for making it longer too, i'm not even sure why we have the limit to be honest....

I'd like that too. Sometimes when I've already posted in a help topic and need to add on or edit because I've gotten something incorrect, I don't want to have to double-post.

I kind of like the limit, but only because of the traffic. We already have enough issues with people responding to a post and then seeing the edit :P

i dont think it's a very good idea.. it'll be annoying and people will get really confused. i think 5 minutes is good.

mayybe 7 minutes.. but definitely no more than 10. [in my opinion] :P

It used to be that I'd catch a mistake (usually minor) after the 5-minute limit was up. I'm getting better at that. Not to mention that I can type faster as well. A bit longer, 6 or 7 minutes, perhaps, but not that much longer.

it took me a year to reach 400 - but then in the first year I didn't come into the chat forum at all.
My goodness, I've been here almost FIVE years!!!

Ah me, I just did that >,<

Yes and, I think maybe to quote Owlie, "A bit longer, 6 or 7 minutes, perhaps, but not that much longer." Around max 10 mins? Because, if everyone could go around editting their posts, they could edit their old posts or whatever (embarassing things?), confusion might ensue, and the like :)

I don't really want to, if that means waiting 10 minutes to post something that's like a 6 posts and hour :/ I'm definately not for 10 minutes, but for something less than that...salomey said about 7 minutes is good. Even though I don't really want to change it at all.

What if you could edit your post up to the point that someone else posts something in the thread? That way, it would reduce double posting and limit confusion.

Um, by posting????

I take back my vote for 10 minutes, 7 is going now!
