I want to get a new ringtone for my phone (Kyocera Phantom KX414), and my service is through Verizon Wireless. The way they have their system set up, you have to use your phone to get online, thus using airtime minutes, in order to browse the available ring tones. Even better, you have to PAY to BROWSE!

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows a better way to get new ringtones, or might have some suggestions for websites that are reliable and safe. I really want the theme from The O.C. as my ringtone, but I have no idea where to look. Any suggestions?

I get lot of my ringtones from here (http://www.mobile9.com/), the only thing is you need to be able to get it from your pc to your phone.

I have Verizon too, so I can sympathize. Which program are you getting your ringtone from? I personally haven't bought one yet (because of the cost and such) but my mom used Modtones. It's pretty cool and you can navigate through it quickly. I want to get one that has the words to it though, not just the music. I think that with Verizon, though, you end up paying a good amount for ringtones no matter how you go about it, don't you?

with Verizon you have to use Get It Now (they don't allow stuff to be sent to the phone over the air, like some providers do). and they told me browsing would use airtime, also, but it doesn't seem to, which is weird. you do have to pay for each thing you download, though. I've used Modtones and it's decent- good quality tones, easy to find them, and the price is about average compared to the other services through Get It Now.I believe you can also add songs to a list from their website (http://www.modtones.com)- but it's been a while since I've used it so I don't exactly remember how it works. but that may save you some airtime if they do in fact charge you for it.

and by the way, I believe it's that show that uses "California" by Phantom Planet.

vtangyl, like others have stated, you can't get stuff for your phone unless you do the get it now thing. however, if you browse after 9pm, it doesn't use your minutes (free nights and weekends). Be very careful though, I have gone over my minutes several times by browsing ring tones. I use the VZTones because each song is only 1 credit and it's a real song, not a midi.

^Thanks so much Dude128! I was able to go to the modtunes website and find the ringtone ID, and that made it much faster when I used GetItNow. So now I hear California everytime my phone rings :) YAY!
