Hey i tried putting one of my flash videos on my myspace but it didn't work. It just showed a big blue box. Is there a different code you need?

Well myspace doesn't allow <object> tags I believe... but they do allow the <embed> tags. You don't need all the extra html that is the file that gets published. All you need is:

<embed src="URL TO YOUR SWF FILE" quality="high" width="700" height="200" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />

I'm not sure what code you put and how you put it, but basically you need to put you swf file somewhere, like in a free webspace or your own domain or whatever... and then use that code and then for src="??" you put in the url of your swf file, along with the appropriate dimensions for it. I've heard that myspace doesn't allow .swf files to be put in <embed> tags anymore but my entire page is flash and it works like a charm for me! If it seems like that's whats happening to you, use tinyurl.com or another similar service to disguise your link for you. It would help if you posted the exact code you put in though. But that should help. Good luck.

This is the code I am using but every time myspace changes embed into blocked content... i used to have

nevermind i found out.. myspace has changed their filter code to eliminate all <embed> tags.. they are all not blocked.. myspace = teh sucks

found a site that has the coding but it still does not work as they dotn think about people using css.

I gues you didn't read my reply to myself.. Myspace has removed <embed> functionality for everything but video's... so you can't use that anymore.

then explain to me why i still see the code working on peoples profiles?
I had it working on 1 profile yesterday. till I accidently cut off some of the code.
and don't remember what I put there.

i have seen many profiles with the chat feature working.
and i know there is other chat options available just getting them embedded to work on myspace. anyone have any idea's?

1. The embed tag will be back next week, so don't stress.
2. You see MySpace pages with the embed tag working still because they haven't edited the tag since MySpace filtered it.

I had embed tags on mine too, worked just fine until I decided to move it from the Music section to the Interests section, then it got blocked and hasn't gone back since.

first off i wasnt wrong and yes the embed will be back.

and tired of people saying its not possible when it is. I am floating it from another site so its working on my other page. as a pop up as soon as you view my other pro.

Why would you pop it up into a new window? If you were the web designer you try to make yourself out to be, you'd know that 90% of people's browsers will block your little popup, and the other 10% will most likely hate viewing your page because they know it's going to pop something up at them.

You should know this, oh great guru of HTML wisdom. And like I said before, no need to get all pissy because someone's answering your question, which you should have been able to answer yourself when your EMBED tag came back as BLOCKEDCONTENT.

I have been able to place and remove video many times on my profile & Friends profile with no probs.

For other stuff this site is not bad for the entry levels but I do more of php & Mysql then your basic stuff.

Learn how to read and ask before saying someone was wrong.

so it should work again soon. I'm guessing the reason other peoples work is because they had a video up prior to Tom diableing the tag. Just my guess though.

<EMBED> that's an HTML tag. Along with 90% of the other tags that are put into MySpace, the rest is CSS and maybe a little javascript if the person really needs it. Also, like I said.. most browsers will block a popup, good luck getting one in on me, and most people that get a popup will not want to visit your Space.

oh, and no, myspce is not shutting down or charging. people start those bulletin rumors every weekend, because.. uh, i dunno, i guess they think its funny that peopel fall for them every weekend and then i come back every monday and say "no, that's not true."

So yeah, I don't think he blocked them for good, I just heard he's doin a little maintenence. :fish2:
