View Full Version : Top 10 Programs
Monkey Bizzle 10-25-2005, 10:14 PM If you have WinXP, then chances are you have a list of your top 10 (depending on your settings) programs when you click on your start menu...
Mine are:
WinRAR
Calculator
BitComet
Excel
3DS Max 7
iMesh 5
Nero StartSmart
Word
Minesweeper
Disk Cleanup
and the programs I have as "stickies" at the top of the start menu are:
CuteFTP
Firefox
Notepad
Photoshop CS2
What are everyone else's?

LimeWire
Minesweeper (my roommate got me addicted recently...)

TagScanner
West Point Bridge Designer (sort of geeky program I was messing around with...)
but those aren't representative of what I use most often. I open Firefox and AIM once whenever I turn the computer on and leave them open while my computer is on (which is usually for a week or more, then I'll shut it down overnight to let it cool off and turn it back on and keep it on again)

Monkey Bizzle 10-26-2005, 01:27 AM For those of you who don't have WinXP, I'm not sure if you have the option to show your most used programs in your start menu... If you do have WinXP, but you don't have that, this is how you turn it on:
-Right click on the taskbar or the start button.
-Go to Properties and choose the Start Menu tab.
-Make sure you have Start Menu selected and not Classic Start Menu.
-If you click on the Customize button next to the Start Menu option, you can set how many items to show.

onigiri 10-27-2005, 05:45 AM How do you guys get more than eight? Do you use a different style for the task bar or something?
Go to Start->Control Panel->Appearance and Themes->Taskbar and Start Menu-> then a window should come up with two tabs, Taskbar and Start Menu, select Start Menu, then with Start Menu (not Classic Start Menu) checked, click on Customize, then a window should come up with two tabs, General and Advanced. In General is an option called Programs, and it should let you choose the number of programs (not stickies, though) you want to display in the Start Menu.
tokyo bleu 10-27-2005, 07:30 AM How do I add the stickies? Me canna work it out...
Or you can just right-click on the programs you want stickied and select "Pin to Start Menu".
