Iv never been christened, my parents sent me and my brother to sunday school etc so we could learn for ourselves and decide. Personally i think thats how it should be. Paco 09-25-2005, 05:47 PM If you want my opinon on relign <Sp?> I think it is a waste of time. Douglas 09-25-2005, 05:47 PM i used to go to sunday school when i was younger then i went to this other churchy thing.. but ever since i was 8, i just never bothered. Marta 09-25-2005, 05:55 PM I go to church. I also go to sr. high sunday school and youth group because we do lots of fun stuff, and I have lots of friends there. salomeyasobko 09-25-2005, 07:46 PM nope, i've never been to church.. and i don't plan on it. but i have gone to synagogues quite a few times [usually for weddings/ bar mitzvahs and stuff]. starlet 09-25-2005, 08:52 PM I think i've been twice my entire life, once for a wedding and once for a funeral! Both when i was a lot younger! Monkey Bizzle 09-25-2005, 09:39 PM Just a friendly reminder, let's all respect each other's opinions. This is one of those subjects that can tend to get out of hand... I don't go to church because I am agnostic. Even if I was religious, I probably still wouldn't go to church. I don't see the point of having to go to a special building on a special day to "prove" your faith. I can pray and practice religion just as easily in the comfort of my own home. I go to church almost every single Sunday. I'm the designer and teh moderator for our youth website at church. But we don't go to church to prove our religion. In the bible it says we are to fellowship with other Christians. It keeps us stronger and closer together. wE can build each other up and pray for each other. It also gives us an opportunity to learn things in the bible that we may not know and someone else does. It keeps us closer to God and Christ to go to church and be with each other. Rosey 09-25-2005, 10:08 PM i go but like southernangel says it's not to prove i believe. I get more out of wednesday night bible study than sunday morning. It's not because i have to go, it's because i want to go. pom 09-25-2005, 10:09 PM I occasionally go on Christmas and Easter sometimes, but I haven't for a couple of years. dolce shanti 09-25-2005, 10:41 PM I go every Sunday, and there's a once-a-month Bible study that some of us at church go to. I also attend a Bible study Monday nights, which has been a blast :-) I second (or third? :)) what southernangel and Rosie said. Owlie42 09-25-2005, 11:38 PM Nope. I've been to church twice that I can remember. Once at christmas, once at some random time because my godmother wanted us to come when we visited her in Texas. tokyo bleu 09-26-2005, 12:00 AM Let's just say that as a private school student, I have to attend services. I don't like it, but I chose to go to private Catholic schools, so it's not a problem. But outside of school, no, I've never been to church and I don't plan on going ever. jazzberry 09-26-2005, 12:13 AM yeah I try to go every Sunday, I teach a sunday school class, and the youth group at my church is really fun and they're all close, so it's nice :) adrielle 09-26-2005, 12:05 PM Yup, every week :) not because I'm forced to, it's not to prove it, it's to grow, get input, and recently it's been so exciting because there's been this missions conference which was SO um, touching, we actually saw the videos and pictures, many things, and it's alive! :D MaGiCSuN 09-26-2005, 01:09 PM nope, and not planning to go either. our church is boring but i'm not interested in it either i think the last time i've been in a church was with the funeral from my grandma 6 years ago Love, Mirna Lissa 09-26-2005, 02:29 PM The last time I went to church is when I was staying with my aunt in Ft. Worth.. I think that was about 6 years ago  So I think that's a no to your question. :) Monkey Bizzle 09-26-2005, 04:44 PM I think maybe I chose the wrong words when I said "prove your religion." I mean that I don't think that you are a bad Christian (or any other religion) if you don't go to worship in a building on a specific day with other people. Like, if I was religious, I probably still wouldn't go to service. lefty 09-26-2005, 04:48 PM I go to church every Sunday :) Unless I'm out of town which, oddly enough, has been the last 2 weekends  I want to start going Sunday night as well, and my church has Bible study Wednesday night that I want to attend. I don't go to impress anyone, or because I "have" to, I go because I want to learn and worship. Angelica 09-27-2005, 01:28 AM i go but like southernangel says it's not to prove i believe. I go every Sunday, and there's a once-a-month Bible study that some of us at church go to. I also attend a Bible study Monday nights, which has been a blast :-) I second (or third? ) what southernangel and Rosie said. :-) Thanks for agreeing with me. Church is a place I always enjoy going as well. My youth group is great and I constantly learn things. Besides that, it brings me back to God from where I might have kind of, umm.... lost focus during the week. bejayel 09-27-2005, 06:32 AM church is the evil of all evils. I actually study the bible to prove it wrong... lefty 09-27-2005, 01:39 PM It's usually the people that try to prove the Bible wrong that wind up converting ;) Blakelyn 09-27-2005, 01:59 PM I haven't been to church in a while. My hometown church had to close because people stopped coming and they ran out of money to keep the church up and running. I also moved to a new city a little over a year ago, and I haven't gotten around to finding a new church, plus my boyfriend doesnt like going (he believes, just doesnt like actually attending services). Monkey Bizzle 09-27-2005, 05:41 PM church is the evil of all evils. I actually study the bible to prove it wrong... sorry if this sounds rude, but don't you have anything better to do with your time? If you think that christians who come to your door are bad because they try to convert you, you are on the same level with them... Choccieholic 09-27-2005, 05:53 PM I used to go when I was younger, until my mum died, then we didn't go as often. My dad plays the organ most weekends, but I stay at home. I go for weddings etc but thats about it. It gets boring for me. Angelica 09-30-2005, 01:19 AM I used to go when I was younger, until my mum died, then we didn't go as often. My dad plays the organ most weekends, but I stay at home. I go for weddings etc but thats about it. It gets boring for me. Maybe it's not the religion you find boring, just the church itself. Sometimes, people find some sermons or preachers to be dry and boring, and they don't catch your attention. There have more Contemporary churches you could try that you may find very interesting and could learn a lot from. Sorry about your mom though. :( *Jen* 09-30-2005, 01:23 PM I had to go almost every Sunday until I was 15. I never go anymore. Only if there's a wedding. westernrider 10-01-2005, 05:09 AM church is the evil of all evils. I actually study the bible to prove it wrong... I personally never understand it when people say things like that. Not trying to get a big argument up - but church is just people getting together and worshiping what they believe in - a lot of times churches do a lot of good in the community. I know some think of it like a cult - I don't know - I know it is perfectly fine to not agree with church - I just would never see it as evil. I got to church every Sunday and to Youth on Wednesdays. It is a good place to be :P salomeyasobko 10-01-2005, 05:34 AM Yeah, i agree with you.. I'm not religious, and i actually disagree with many aspects of religion, but that statement is totally false and biased. Unless the church you go to promotes hate or something evil [which i assume to be rare], i don't see why church is so evil. If someone wants to practice their religion and go to church to learn more about the teachings of their religion, then that's great for them.. As long as they're not trying to forcefully convert people or hurting others in any way.. hdshngout 10-01-2005, 04:29 PM i used to go, and i should probably start again, but i just kinda drifted out of it. |
